Uninstall whatever wireless manager came with your wireless card and let windows do it's thing.

Or try various other clients in the list.

If you get the same results from multiple software it's either a problem with your card, or with the networks you're trying to reach, but the more networks that experience the problem the more likely the problem is the card or something that's been configured on the card.

Trying this now. Right now I use the default Microsoft manager, but the problem does seem to be with the manager, so I'll try the Broadcom one and report back.

Just to doublecheck, when you try to connect to a secured network, you have the key, right?
You're not just randomly trying to connect to a secure access point, right?
