Horribly gruesome. Some of the scenes were really horrific (that dog scene was really sad but at least they didn't show it) but all in all it was pretty decent and I liked the anime as a whole. It was only 13 episodes so pretty good because I'm not about to dedicate myself to something with like 50+ episodes. Definitely not for everyone though. I haven't bothered to watch another anime since.
I feel like we have similar tastes Sarah, so maybe I'll give Cowboy Bebop a look at as well...
elfen lied was my first anime, dear lord i couldn't bring myself to watch the second episode after seeing the first, i was horribly paranoid (i was still a kid.)
