According to Adriasang, Iwata and Shigeru Miyamoto see DLC as means of extending the longevity of their titles, adding new levels and exciting new features that players want.
Iwata also said that low-quality DLC - such as keys or stat boosts - is detrimental to Nintendo's relationship with its customers.
Repeating comments he has made in the past, Iwata rubbished the idea that free-to-play content would appear on the either platform, believing it would damage the premium value of Nintendo's content.
To grow in this area, he earmarked the growth of Nintendo's eShop over the next few years as a main priority.
