I say Herbalism + Alchemy is the best combo. Herbalists get easy Empathy, and thus have more MP and better quest exp rewards than other players. Additionally Alchemists are the only people who can extract Item Crystals from equips without the use of an extractor, and they can fuse items together for a good chance at getting potential on them. Fused items also seem to get better potential stats for some reason as well, so fusion is a great way of getting rid of all the random equip drops while also netting a decent profit if the user is lucky.
