I still consider it an asspull. I mean Shikamaru's kage mane was able to hold kinkaku (or ginkaku what does it matter) in bijou mode and it seems like the kind of technique that isn't easy to break.

It took him a grand total of 2 panels to break the kagemane technique in bijuu mode.. It wasn't able to hold him at all . Theres nothing "asspull" about it. Techniques can be broken if you exert a stronger chakra than the technique being used on you, just like it always has done.
