There is plenty of water in the oceans. The third world countries might have trouble (they already do), but we'll be fine. Might take extra work, but we'll be fine. And screw the environment; people are more important.
I never got it though... why can't they just distill ocean water to make it usable for human consumption? I mean, the same sort of thing happens all the time; water evaporates from the ocean, clouds form, rain, groundwater. Obviously the water leaving the minerals in the ocean when it evaporates doesn't cause any harm, why would redistributing distillery waste back into the ocean?
