There's an easy way to figure it out, make GMs able to drop some of the blue or gold snowflakes, see who they fly to (or who's inventory they wind up in), permanent ban the hacker.

This is a really good idea. It wouldn't completely solve it but it's easier than waiting for the tree to explode and actually requires less effort than monitoring tons of channels.
