Preparing a disaster kit and time capsule
This is a serious waste of time of whoever gets the last word.

Saying Maplestory isn't about leveling is like saying Gaia Online isn't about social interaction because there is a slew of other things you can do besides socially interact. While one person may find joy in doing the merchanting, walking, exploring, and social activities, this is not the primary objective of the game. All mmo's have social-based communities and that's why they are called ''massive multiplayer online''. However, an RPG is to play the role of the hero that gets stronger and defeats the big bad(and may have a few short differences). What, if I play Final Fantasy 7 just to Chocobo race and explore, does that mean the primary objective of the game changes? NO! You still have the objective of leveling and continueing on with the story. This isn't a matter of opinion, all I'm seeing from post is ''You're not respecting my opinion so I'm going to try to belittle you in the same way and lament on the stupidity of people', this is the attitude of someone in their mid-teens. We get it, you have a boner for hating humanity, this isn't some serious debate. Maplestory, has the PRIMARY OBJECTIVE, of leveling. It has BRANCHING ACTIVITIES that offer various and fun activities to partake in, all games do this, but you can't say Maplestory isn't about leveling. How about we say Mario 64 is about exploring, and not about saving Princess Peach? It just doesn't work, you want to play a game that has the primary objective of exploring? Good luck, I'm sure there are very few out there.

This whole House thing is stupid. House uses insane medical knowlege combined with witty attitude in order to please fans and make people laugh, if ''House'' were here reading this thread, he wouldn't have even bothered to waste time posting his ''logic'' for others to look at, as he would obviously have a lot more important things to do. Having a bad attitude and throwing your ''logic'' around does not make you House, it does not make you seem like House either, especially since, the fact that you find solace in thinking a games objective changes simply because there's content added for players of a different genre is what drives you to reply to this thread.

While it's nice that you guys play Maplestory for other things than leveling, which I can respect, it's not suprising to see them change it into a game that goes back to only focusing on it's prime objective, you made the choice to get screwed over when you played an MMORPG and made special memories of the beautiful maps that they have, having experienced Maplestory in a way that is uncommon to most players doesn't help your arguement at all, and throwing around your hate for society does not make you seem smarter, it makes you look extremely melodramatic.

If we're going to debate about Maplestory's primary objective, we need to stop calling people ignorant, stupid, hypocritical, and other things. If someone does not like the way another person says something on the thread, they have to do one thing, and that is to NOT POST.

To post my personal bias(as most people here using the word ''opinion'' are). I too, have played Maplestory for many other things, getting to level 130 was extremely hard for me back then and it's easy as hell now. There was also some really amazing things I have been able to do in Maplestory that now seem normal, like my first time ever going to the dead mine and seeing actual zombies coming to kill me. Taking a tour down the Eos Tower, exploring Korean Folk Town. It was amazing, especially since I had friends to do it with. I didn't give a crap about leveling, well, I did, but that was for third job. I loved the abilities 3rd jobs gave people, that was new to me, I never played a game where one could teleport through enemies(assaulter) and rocket-jump, throwing spears of lightning and summoning eagles. Maplestory(while being raided with ANNOYING hackers) was grind-heavy, but you could really feel it being worth it. Fighting the gate guardians for the first time was amazing, as was losing to Thanatos because of his resisting of my elements.

I'm not here to say it's wrong to enjoy Maplestory for what you enjoy it for, and I am sorry that you are losing your favored feature of the game. However, I still want to make it clear, that Maplestory has been about leveling, and Big Bang is enforcing that idea. While I am pretty mad about them idiotically changing all kinds of maps for ''convenience'', and while I hate how badly Maplestory had become a massive stat-fest these days, I am still happy for big-bang, and will enjoy it as a new start of Maplestory. I am sorry you will have trouble doign the same.

This is not to say your ideals are wrong, stupid, or minor compared to everyone else. I just want to say, that Maplestory has the primary objective of leveling, but it is true that it isn't something one HAS to go after, nor should have to.
