Adam and Eve and the Apple

Yes of course wars have been fought over religion, at least in the minds of the public, because the common soldier in the crusades had no friggin idea that the pope played them for more than pious reasons. Historians have done alot of research on this of course, and show the reasons behind the wars more often than not had little to do practically with converting the masses or some such. What I am trying to say is that religion always seems to be the front of those wars, though digging deeper it shows that there are so much more to it. Some of the crusads for example was proclaimed by popes that had to do something to stay in power because europeam monarchs was about to refuse the pope supremacy. Also, how many educated people think that USA act the way they do in foreign countries just to uphold democracy? Doing it under the cold war was to keep USSR from gaining an edge, doing it now seems to be about oil/resources and political leverage. Though it is all about the perspective you have when you look at it I suppose. You can argue about reasons for war, but if you are going to go against the general historian consensus, better not include stuff that has no base in reality at all.
