Most wars from Dark Ages time frames and back were based on religious aspects of a religion driven society in which the church was the absolute authority. Try actually finding a government like that today where people of some belief system force their will on others... oh wait you can. Any Muslim nation as well as most Communist/Totalitarian countries as well force citizens into a system where you have to be either Islamic faith, Athiest, or some other religion to have a standing in anything government, business, etc. Here in America this is not a reality any more and hasn't been for well over 50 years since the civil rights movement as well as the 1980s when Madeline O'Hare finally forced her hand into the separation of church and state statutes. No wars since the Enlightenment era of history have truly been fought religiously. The only war that actually was to stop a religious qwelling was World War II in which millions of Jews were being slaughtered in the name of a occultist religion Hitler and the Nazi's based their beliefs on.

I have bolded some historical issues that are kind of iffy. Firsty no war in human history, yes that is correct, non, have been fought purely based on religion. Religion often plays a part, but more often than not function as a justification for achiveving political goals and/or to grasp power. Oh, and that about WWII and the nazis, please do not enter any discussion with someone claiming any of those things. I am a teacher in both history and religion if you wonder why I correct you.
