I'll answer to the question in the old thread: I heard about sp from my friends, so I started lurking. Then I was linking some thread from southperry and I got a warning. I got mad, so I contacted the admins about it. I heard there was a rule (not written in the rules of the forum), only based on personal reasons of Adura, I went straight to sp and made myself an account.
Hell, people deserve the credit for the work they have done and I will still credit to southperry even if it means getting banned.

No, it's because SP has been and, as far as I know, will always be a site dedicated to figuring out how Maplestory works. By learning about how the game works inside the client, we can use that data to optimize characters and such. Because we allow light discussion of talking about how a hack works (generally) and how and what to do when confronted with the hack, that's how we're different. Being able to tell other people a general way about how a hack works also lets us know how to avoid it entirely. When it comes to Maplestory, the freer the data and mechanics, the freer the players.
On Basil, they don't allow discussion of that at all. TBH, I can see both sides. But considering their larger userbase (they probably get 10x as many posts per day as we do), they have to be more hardlined about where the rules are. If you'll notice, as Southperry has grown, our rules have gotten harder too. It happens to every single site that ever existed. So perhaps Mr. B takes issue that our rules are more lenient, but we only do it because we care about learning how the game works and that information is integral to the spirit of SP.
Also, someone there quoted "hacking for the public good" as being a negative... why? If you can hack the game to figure out a countermeasure to a d/c hack, GO. DO IT. And then tell the admin that you know how to counter it and ask to share share share. This is stuff we all want to know. If you're hacking to gain an advantage for yourself that does not benefit the public, GTFO.
Remember back a few months ago when I set up a honeypot account with 50m mesos on it, told people my username and pass, then told them to hack it to see how secure the PIN was? Someone found a way to reset my PIN without me having to confirm the PIN reset. He submitted the glitch to Nexon and it got fixed. He's a member of our own forums too, but he'll reveal himself as the "glitcher" if he wants to. This is what I mean by hacking for the public good.
