We're going to try to use the scoring system next time around. It seems quite complex though. But there's probably an easy way to decipher it.
When I was writing out the things you say, I just go phonetically by what I say. I guess there are actual spellings if you were to be speaking Chinese and just writing it out. Pon,"Chew" in Chinese, Kang/Gang, Oola(Winning by a discard?), Tsumo(winning by drawing?). We also vary between 13 and 16 tiles, but we normally don't go by having any particular hands just by who gets a full hand the quickest. There was this packet that came with my set, but there's like 70 different types of scoring hands, and that just gets entirely too confusing, especially if we just want to play for fun.
