Not to cause a fight or anything, but I thought "Military" was an umbrella term in itself.

Army was used like... a brand name... like

Jeff: Hey can i borrow your Sharpie? (Asking for a Permanent Marker)

Jane: Do you have any ChapStick i can borrow? (Asking for Lip Balm)

I guess "Armed Forces" would be an umbrella term also.
