Just because it says "Element" in the name, doesn't mean it's supposed to be for a certain specific element, specifically if the weapon itself doesn't identify the element anywhere in the visible item information. Notice that the weapons do not have the description they have in some other versions. Their element isn't even identified in the item's name.
And again, Mages are hated. Can't give them something good to level on, but instead they'll make teases that are immune or resistant.
And they might have just left the data for elemental boost in but disabled it in some other way. If the data is perfectly fine in the client, that means it's serverside, right? Means a patch isn't even needed to fix this.
