If I were in your shoes, I would go for academics rather than minor acquaintances that'll disappear in a couple years. What you study will stay with you forever, whereas friends always come and go.
See thats what I prefer. But theres really nothing to learn in middle school. Especially since Arizona has such bad schools. Heck I learn more just by life experiances then we learn in school. I have studied only for finals and a few major tests this whole year and have a solid A in all classes. I'm able to skip 8th grade because I'm in all honors but I'm not ready to move on to high school yet...
I'm starting to let it all sink in now.
