Coping with the inevitability of death.
#10
^That was very depressing.

I remember when I was about 7 or 8 I was laying in bed and I just started thinking about everything (life, the universe, space, who I am/why I exist, death) and when it came to death I just started hysterically crying. It seems like such a waste in a way, that everything has to and will end so abruptly. I am more afraid of dying in a painful way than just death in general. Dying through some sort of accident or by drowning etc still freaks me out because I always see stories on the news about how someone was murdered or how someone died in a work accident, and I just think "damn, that could have been me".

Despite this, you have to accept it. You won't achieve anything just mulling over the fact that it's so awful that death exists but you will gain some peace of mind if you accept that it is an inevitability and that it isn't just something you alone will have to experience. Think of how long the planet has existed, all the billions of creatures that have died. Death is just a way of being one with everything else that was. All I want in life is to be able to have done something or made some sort of mark that has affected someone other than myself. I can't stand the thought of life being so linear. Just remind yourself that you're not the only person that has to go through death and that you shouldn't be concerned with it. If all you do is concentrate on it, it'll consume you and you'll have wasted the opportunity to truly live.

..that sounded very dramatic.
