People die when they are killed. "Dying" and using Phoenix Down isn't the same as dying from the plot. You can think of it as being knocked out for the time being. By your line of reasoning, every death scene in the Final Fantasy series means nothing.

Knocked-out =/= dying, and you did made a point. True, in battles, they don't actually die, it's KO'd. My bad. Still . . . Hmm..
