People who are insecure or lacking self-confidence or being in relationships that lack bonding isn't the same as being idiots. I voted no but that's because I always plantain around and vote for the minority on polls. Else, I think it hugs are fine for reasons people have already mentioned in this thread. But since I voted no, I'll speak for the defense of no.
There are plenty of people who are not confident in themselves to believe in their own relationship. This in turn leads them to think a simple hug, kiss on the cheek, phone calls, jokes, etc between their significant other and another person would tear the relationship apart. Worse part of the situation is they usually keep the envious feelings to themselves (going back to lacking self confidence to speak to their lover about it). The more the hid it, the less trust exists in the relationship, and the weaker the bond with the relationship becomes. There are a few people on the forums who lack self confidence in these situations: Harrison and that kid from a few days ago with the life-long chick friend who dated another guy who's thread no longer exist. They're not living on "middle age customs" or are "idiots".
