If you want those individual rights then you should fight for those rights that you deserve. Marriage shouldn't be used as a means to an end in order to achieve certain benefits or rights that you desire. That's ruining the integrity of marriage. Even though it might be more practical to aspire for marriage, you are ruining the deontological and inherent essence of the subject for consequentalist benefits. It's not explicitly aimed at homosexuals but with the world in general. People have stopped doing things for the enjoyment of just doing it. All of a sudden college is used to get a six figure salary or to get into Medical School. Playing sports is seen as a fast-track to popularity and success. Heterosexuals have pissed all over the integrity of marriage. But that doesn't change what I believe should happen and how we should view things that we choose to pursue.
