You have a lot to learn if you think Wave Dashing is like 'god tier'. It isn't in any form.. broken. It doesn't give you invincibility frames. There are videos out there with players that does very little W-Dashing and can still win matches just by short-hopping & L-canceling.
I don't think it's a standard. But it's the easiest form of teching you can perform as a beginner.
Hell, I'll gladly upload a video of my Captain Falcon, Jigglypuff, Falco, Fox, or Marth getting knee'd by a Falcon while I try to W-dash back and forth just to prove my point if need be. WD = increase in speed + frames-skip.
