There is a special area on the boss map that is specifically designed to allow all the lower leveled participants to not be isolated from the rest of the group. They do no damage, and they take no damage in this spot. Alternatively, they could simply opt to not even enter the boss room and be automatically relocated to the bonus stage.

This is not generosity but standard practice. Lower leveled players are required. Lower leveled players also prefer not to die. They are not forced to suicide against the final boss with the exception of the one player who must be sacrificed to open the portal to the final room.
