Thieves are easily one of the cheapest jobs in the early levels.
The only class that actually really *needs* mesos is a dexless warrior. And even then that's an optional build that you don't have to follow if you don't want to.

No they can't, that's why before this mastery books were restricted to fourth job skills and by extension, more experienced players. Sure it's possible to scrape together enough mesos to buy the book using the MTS (unless you're in galacia), but it's also beyond the abilities of many casual and less experienced players. You can say whatever you want about any other aspect of it, but this system is a bad thing for them.
