I 'got' Rosetta Stone to for japanese. I never got that error before.
Does it work without the mic/speech recognition?
I don't use speech recognition, even if I had a mic, I wouldn't really try to.
I googled it too, it might be Vista, since I use XP. Or, you could be missing files.

Not really, I used korean and japanese. However, it doesn't really help you read characters, it pretty much assumes you know all the character/letters/symbols beforehand. It teaches you the 'alaphabets' very slowly, which isn't reliable since youll just forget everything it shows you until you know all the characters. Other than that, if you can read it (not comprehend, just read), Rosetta Stone is just fine.
