1. Yes
2. If that's true, you should be able to provide us with some sort of credible link, so please do.
Supposed fact about global warming: Ice cap temperatures are increasing to a point where they could eventually melt, and cause insane amounts of damage to the globe's climate.
Actual fact from NASA and the NWS: Over the past twenty years, the numbers have fluctuated from positive to negative in such a way, that there have been absolutely no reported damaging temperature changes, especially nothing that would cause a severe glacial disaster. Yes the earth gets cooler as a cause of this "warming" or whatever naming scheme you choose to use, but I still am not convinced that this is a problem at all, or better yet, if it even exists. Once I see numbers that prove this extreme temperature change and that it can ACTUALLY be a problem, you might make a believer out of me. But as of right now, I reside in the same boat as the rest of the skeptical science world. And they basically say, The numbers aren't varying enough to suggest that this increase/decrease in temperature around the polar ice caps should ever be a problem.
.....
Point? Just because people say UV rays and such get trapped within the walls of the Earth's atmosphere, doesn't mean that they turn the planet into a greenhouse. And if the reported "holes in the ozone layer" were actually where they are estimated to be, the damage would have already been catastrophic. And solar flares have absolutely nothing to do with global warming either. I'm getting pretty sick of reading (not in this thread, mind you
) that the magnetic fields around the Earth and Sun are what make solar flares, and ultimately contribute to global warming. That couldn't be a more false statement. Sure, scientists claim to have "figured global warming out", but I'm going to stick with the actual numbers from NASA and the NWS that prove the temperatures around the north/south pole have fluctuated from warmer to colder depending on tides and lunar activity, and ultimately show that if global warming was indeed to be a problem, it would have already reared it's ugly head.
