I've noticed this as well. I wasn't here for last Halloween's event, but I was playing during the first Halloween storyline. I was disappointed as well, because I actually liked what they did with their quests. I was waiting before saying anything, in hopes that there was some long dialogue after getting Olivia's chair that explains things a bit more.
They didn't think it through at all. The story seems like it took less than 5 minutes to write up.
Nexon writer 1:
Okay, so there's this evil girl. But she's cute and stuff, when you first see her. She asks you to help her Daddy get out of the haunted house. But he's too scared! So you help him out, but he has OCD and wants you to talk to the butler dude. You talk to him and he tells you to talk to the evil mastermind that is Jonas! Only after you help this evil spirit out are you able to face Olivia in combat!
Nexon writer 2: Oh, but where's the plot twist?
Nexon writer 1: Oh, right. Olivia is Jonas's daughter that died of starvation or something. He probably raped her too, caus he's evil like that.
Nexon writer 2: Brilliant. Simply brilliant. Okay, I'm off to go get coffee.
Nexon writer 1: Ah, but our lunch break isn't for 4 hours.
Nexon writer 2: Well, we've finished for the day, right?
Nexon writer 1: Ah, you're correct.
Nexon writers 1 and 2 proceed to exit the building, holding hands and skipping giddily. A page sits on the table with their "storyline" sloppily sketched all over it. A chilling breeze flows through the open window and lifts the page in a rather unnatural fashion. It's almost as if it were being raised, rather than flowing freely with the air. As the page raises in the air, it comes to a sudden stop. A few moist droplets fall on the page, a faint sound of sobbing echos throughout the empty room. A figure slowly fades into existence. A transparent figure of the dead toymaker. He holds the page up, reading the lines over and over as he continues to sob.
Ghost of Jonas: Oh Olivia! What have they done to you?
With that, he fades away once again, vanishing into thin air. The paper slowly falls down onto the floor. The opened window shuts closed, and the room is left in silence once again.
