Utah's labor laws are: You can work at age 15, but you can't work past 6PM once school starts. Then when you're 16, you can work whenever the pineapple you want.
Anyways. I've had a job since I was just barely 16. Been at the same place. It was seriously one of the greatest things that happened to me. It kicked the habit of being on the computer 24/7, gave me something new to do, opened up my social skills to what they are today, and it even HELPED my grades.
I say, by all means, go for it. Having a job is amazing.
I'm actually looking forward to next semester; I've been approved to do an internship at a Psychological Clinic. :3 That teacher is amazing and can find an internship ANYWHERE. I'm just going to miss writing for the school paper since the internship will fall under that class period. @_@
