Within the data, and the NPCs, is the average stats an equipment comes with. "Clean" items (no scrolls used on it) will have grey, white, or blue names. Anything below average is grey - white covers average and a little above average, blue is very high stats. If you buy an item from an NPC, it will always be average. If you buy it from another player, or forge it, it has randomly decided stats.
If they're scrolled, there's a little (+x) after the item name - for Male/Female only items it'll say (+1Male) - and it can be grey, orange, blue, purple, or yellow depending on the total number of stats added by scrolls.
