Question about weapon stat requirements

You used to be able to equip it and keep it on if it met its own requirement. When maple warrior came out, this was patched. Seeing as someone could use maple warrior for a lower lvl character to wear something out of their range.

Uh, no, I remember trying to do this with my thief armor that added dex in BETA. Didn't work.
