Yes, this can be true, but it can go either way; for positive or negative. I've worked on a few E3 presentation Revs before and while there is a rush, more often than not, the production of an E3 Rev often gets more attention than the Final Rev (where I worked anyway) [also note that the E3 Rev is a very small portion of the game, so scrutinizing it is much easier]. As a side note that hopefully doesn't go into to much detail (NDA and all >.>), this past year's E3 we were working on something and had a fully playable and very nice demo stage (which I was playing on the same server of to populate for the E3, always fun). Two weeks later and we were working on a condensed stage of the very one that we had displayed for the E3 presentation; which had an entirely different and less fulfilling feeling to it.
Now I can't say heads or tails for another company; nor can I say that it will be better or worse; but if this is all the material he has to go off of, let him have his opinion for the time being, even knowing that things have likely changed. Until further official press coverage is given, no one will have any idea what to think at this point.
