Advantages & Disadvantages of your job.
#11
129 FP Mage

Advantages:
  • Fire Arrow is the strongest single target attack in the second job. (And it allows you to train in most of Nath during that time.)
  • Fire Arrow is usable up to Lv 120
  • Slow helps at bosses... usually IL don't max this skill.
  • Mist is fast and allows for easy hunting. (I've found a great number of ilbis, more than the average sin ever had.)
  • Explosion is a unique skill, being the only one that is affected by weapon speed
  • I make money faster than any other class can soloing.
  • Meteo, even at level one, protects me from being KSed.
  • Elquines is the only summon that freezes, which is useful at bosses such as Griffey and Manon, because it freezes the kentaurs so that you can hug them easily.
  • Paralyze at level 1 is superior to Cold Beam and IL Composition because of its ability to freeze for 5 seconds.
  • Fire demon has the semi-freeze status
  • Fire demon, in conjunction with explosion really helps clear out mobs during misting.
  • Partial resistance helps at pap, when dispelled, you won't die.

Disadvantages:
  • Training with fire arrow is slower than IL's training with thunderbolt.
  • Explosion is slow, and many people say that it's laggy.
  • The 'hell' levels cause many people to go the 'brace' build, which is pretty useless. D:
  • Mist training speed remains the same no matter what level you are. (Which makes it pretty slow later on.)
  • Explosion forces you to either be a luk mage or put up with the slower misting speed from the longer explosion casts and the loss of the ability to jumpcast explosion... (as in the explosion sets off before you hit the ground).
  • Seal isn't used much after sharking.
  • Composition is useless, though people are still maxing it instead of Partial Resistance.
  • Elemental Amp causes Meteo to be double the cost of Genesis.
  • Elquines doesn't have the best reflexes... you have to put it in between you and the monster you intend it to attack, which can be a hassle if you're KBed out of range.
  • Lack of Composition made me want to pump Paralyze first, which limits training to misting instead of Meteoing.
  • Paralyze isn't strong enough yet to hit 10K, even at level 9 paralyze.
  • Elquines isn't as helpful until it has two second freeze, which is at level 11. However, the glitch (reversed animations between attack and disappear) forced me to pump it to level 12, missing my paralyze's Mastery margin.
  • Partial Resistance only helps on the Fire Attribute. The only monsters doing poison based attacks are zombies... and PR doesn't help reduce damage from boss-mist.
Yea, pretty long list.

The last point of disadvantages raises an interesting idea:
If they implemented a boss which would cast boss-mist at certain times that does a ridiculously high amount of damage like 15K damage per second and needed a certain amount of HP downed before it clears its mist, it would raise the usefulness of a FP in a boss battle. The only classes that would be able to survive the fullscreenmist... are warriors, shadowers, FPs (with PR), and Bishops (With ER). Of course, it'd waste a lot of pots for a warrior to be fighting during the mist time, unless a shadower assists them with the smokescreen, but if the boss implemented casts it more frequently than smokescreen countdown timer... A FP would be VERY useful to have, because he'd have to clear the mist for the other... ranged classes... to come in. (Like, when it casts the boss-mist, a shadower must cast smokescreen and then a Bishop has to door them out of the room into a waiting room until the FP clears the mist by killing the required amount of HP, then door them back in from the waiting room after the mist is cleared.)
