Is science destroying the way we live?

Science explains how and why: just because we haven't discovered everything about life, the universe, and our existence yet doesn't mean that science can't explain it all. Science is:

"a branch of knowledge or study dealing with a body of facts or truths systematically arranged and showing the operation of general laws"

For example: why did we evolve? I have yet to see an atheoretical answer to this.
Hell, if you believe in ghosts: what causes them to spring to existence?

I frankly can't imagine either of these being answered any time soon.
