Well..

First tell me this..

Is the Seagate hard drive you bought the problem plagued fixed by firmware update 7200.11 version or the newer 7200.12 with all the fixes in place?

I'm a Western Digital person though. I'd suggest this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...6822136320

Also, I suggest using a REAL copy of Windows XP. Kernel.dll is a pretty important file..
