You lose 4 per wash (it always takes off the max with AP resets), so you need 20 extra mp per level which isn't too easy... 190 int gear would do it on average.
I think each point adds 52 hp on average so you'd be gaining about 325 per level if you washed all 5 points. You're right that's only going to get to about 27500 by 200.
If you try it with 1 AP (spend it in MP wearing full int gear, take it off and reset to HP) then you only lose the 1 reset if it doesn't work, which doesn't seem significant compared to how many resets you need (about 240 into hp to max it)
