I wasn't thinking when I tried a private server. It started with wanting to know how my 4th job skills would be, and also only when I couldn't get on the main server.
I've always been a fan of fan-games. Tributes to the original game and author. And I sort of saw them as such and nothing more. It wasn't until I saw things about donations that I started to get suspicious. That and fan-games always put "x is owned and copyrighted by z," etc.
Really, it comes down to me once again having too much trust in people and that they're not trying to steal from others. I saw it as a way to kill boredom.
