While "men" is in fact shorter than "human", in the Preamble of the U.S. Constitution, "We the People", not "We the men". It didn't make the U.S. Constitution any weaker.
Charisma is a combination of visual effects and verbal effects. One needs to show confidence through their gestures and posture. I'm sure that if Barrack Obama and John McCain posted their speeches only online, charisma would be almost obsolete.
Where did I post that I thought Hitler cared about equal rights? Anyways, even if I do download Hitler's speeches, I wouldn't understand them because I don't speak German. Translations cost money to download, and being a minor, I have no method of purchasing one.
"People" doesn't screw with masculine writing because there's only one way of saying "people." Whereas when you get into the nitty gritty you get the men/women, human, etc distinctions. People is ALWAYS people, whereas men/women, etc., can be said in masculine or inclusive. My point is, there are times when you have to choose for the sake of brevity, and that's when you go with masculine.
"We the men" sounds very bad, "we the people" sounds right. The whole issue is "men" usually sounds better than "men and women." I am sorry, it's really late and I cannot impart everything I have learned in college and while training as a writer, in a couple paragraphs. I hope you believe me when I say all questions like this are explainable though.
Hitler's speeches are all translated to English and can be read on teh internet. Hitler.org has a database of all his speeches ever given. Even knowing the man was a demon in human skin, I cannot help but be moved by the charisma he possessed; though I myself am a Jew and he wanted me dead.
Charisma is 1. a well-written speech and 2. the personality behind it. If you approach me on the street and talk to me you will see me as a completely different person than if I prepare a speech and give it in front of an audience including you. Internet writing such as this is somewhere between the two; spontaneous writing + quick editing afterwards is not the same as speaking outloud, but still not the same as REALLY writing and preparing a speech. I honestly don't know why people trust politicians while they're speaking. A speech given in front of 30 million people on live TV after rehearsing it for 3 weeks has literally 0 bearing on who the speaker actually is. And charisma will NEVER be obsolete. People love to hear a good speaker. Back in Abe Lincoln's time speeches were long-winded precisely because they were a chief source of entertainment. And you cannot imagine a speaker such as Churchill or Hitler. Those people sound so good precisely because they are almost beyond the realm of human imagination.
