He tried to appease both sides, and therefore pissed off both sides as a consequence. For me, I felt around 5:40 when he was "no shi't corruption is everywhere, don't fully trust anything" is where his Diplomacy attempt rolled a 1 and my opinion of him suddenly crashed. Perhaps if that transition was a bit smoother it'd go more smoothly. I understand the intent of his initial Gamegate video, but the delivery overall was a bit too rough.
Actually this was a perfect move for everyone when it gets down to the last note. Everyone that is harassing him is not gamergate but anti gamergate, I was tweeting with him earlier and honestly, even in the video he makes it very clear the anti gamergate people are the ones who are causing this current video. That and addition to that gamergate actuall supported his neutral position, and still do.
Even though his intentions are great but execution is bad, the fact he tried was noble (which I know you also said), but it also gave an oppurtunity for bystanders to see who really is the fit to these harassment claims.
