Make sure you get a Jr. Boogie familiar. MP usage cranks up really high when you get the familiar thing.

Yeah, Blaze Wizard quite literally burns through mana. especially when you are getting hit. I hardly ever run out of mana on other characters, so I keep forgetting to restore it, haha.
