I just can't be happy with a spin off to the worst part of the most recent 3d mario game(which in itself only had one redeeming feature compared to galaxy 1/2, being the multiplayer...which as far as I'm aware, they've now removed for the spin off. I actually got so bored of 3D worlds single player that I quit it halfway through and had to play the entire thing in multiplayer, just so I could finish it, but that's a complete aside)
I'm not sure when you'll realise -- but just because you don't like something doesn't mean it's bad. The popular and most vocal opinion seems to be that people liked Captain Toad. Just because certain people don't like it doesn't mean most people won't buy it or like it. Case in point: I don't like Wii Fit or any of its derivatives but people do and they buy it. In fact a lot of people bought Wii Fit with over 23 million copies sold. But hey, I don't like it so surely it must be bad. Oh no wait, it isn't bad. It's just the hype and the casual market!

The Wii U is doing poorly -- this E3's purpose was to bring life to the system through showcasing games on a console that needs game. You've been vocal about the Wii U needing games and now they're doing it and you're still complaining. Go ask anyone who has watched the Direct what console they feel like buying now. Most people on /v/ (over 73% of votes with 4k+ votes) said they thought Nintendo did the best out of the group and that they'll be buying a Wii U now. And this is one of the most negative groups for Nintendo that I know of. Imagine other communities, they're probably excited too. This E3 has definitely been full of hype and almost guaranteed sales for Nintendo so I'd say this was a big plus.

It's not cancelled, there hasn't been much indication of it being cancelled. It could just be heavily in development though I still think not showing it is a silly move.

You're right. They haven't announced anything to fill the time gap. I don't think you're right about "not announcing" DLC. They said the Amiibo thing will be a thing for Mario Kart and it might be used to unlock characters, who knows. They might show more info. I don't think Nintendo is doomed just yet -- they still do Nintendo Directs every so often which might announce some DLC for Mario Kart or games to fill in the gap between now and Holiday 2014. It's not like E3 is the only digital event Nintendo does.
