Nintendo did, you said it yourself. It's likely a business move from Iwata to not have insanely high expectations over him, predictions means nothing, and even less if you have failed to fill up all them in 2 years because they were over confident about the product, we all know that with smash and MK8 out this year, they are going to sell more than that.

Because bad publicity doesn't affect sales? Because the creation of elitist groups in the gaming world doesn't afffect sales?. I always see people that say "Eww you own that Nintendo Garbage" or talk pomegrnate about Wii U/3DS without even owning one of the systems, I know I made a mistake when I generalized about it. but it doesn't change the fact that the industry is being hard on Nintendo because they think (most of them) that they are for children only, when games are created in a more "general" view, because there are 30-40+ years old nintendo fans too, there is no better way to explain this than this article: http://www.forbes.com/sites/jordanshapir...grown-ups/
Also, what can I do to change the situation?. I'm just a normal person, I'm not someone with power in the industry.

Yeah, journalist play them but not in full detail, there was a review about MH3U that only covered up to the first LAgiacrus hunt and that wasn't even 10% of the game... Also they were saying that the game had awful controlls when the basic controls and difficult stages are the main core of the game, not a flaw.

Last I checked there was sweet fanny adams "hardcore" about super mario galaxy 1/2. That doesn't stop them from being among the best games of all time.
Not all journalits are like that but a good group of them are and not just "hardcore" nintendo games but also innovative ones, or don't you remember the awful review that Skyward sword got from IGN/Gamespot (not remember which because I was more busy playing than caring) because the journalist couldn't play SS properly (because of his own fault), Obviously they can't trash huge entries (Mario for example) but they try their best to find mistakes (lol, Mario kart 59FPS), something they don't do on other AAA games that are released with full bugs.
