Super Smash Bros. Wii U and 3DS Discussion

It definitely is nice to see the new play styles. I'm personally interested to see how they end up feeling.
And I'm sure that there is some form of flaw in Greninja's attacking patterns that will be exploitable. Smash will hopefully focus on more aspects of balance when compared to the other smash titles that have been released. It seems like the team really wants to make a game for the competitive player base, and balance is key in doing that.
Plus, even as a casual player I don't want to see one character completely outshine the others for one reason or another.

As a more general question, are the character changes we saw last Tuesday the only ones we know about, or were there others announced prior? I can't recall if there was or wasn't...

Hard to say based on ocarina of time since she didn't actually do anything except suddenly appear out of nowhere. Pretty sure most people would say she's a ninja though.

Of course me saying greninja will be impossible to hit is an exaggeration. Under SSB64 hitstun rules, getting a hit on greninja SHOULD result in big damage or a kill to be successful. I think for this reason the greninja/villager matchup will be very one sided since villager doesn't really seem to have that great a damage game unless it involves d-smash -> tree/bowling ball which would be hard to get on a character made to be hard to hit and very fast. I'm not really seeing anything that's majorly overpowered. If anything it would only be unbalanced matchups rather than an unbalanced roster, which is probably better. It encourages one to pick up and be good with a variety of characters to be able to deal with those characters that overpower your other ones instead of maining the best one and destroying the entire cast.

The other changes we know are mostly from the daily pics. There is other information we know, but we didn't know a whole lot of what was shown in the direct previously. Most of it was completely new.
