Standard: Permanent Softcore league(ladder). When you die, you only lose experience above Cruel difficulty.
Hardcore: Permanent Hardcore league. When you die, your character is moved to Standard league.
Domination: 4 Month Softcore league. There are exclusive items/uniques that only spawn in this league as well as the recently added shrine effects.
Nemesis: 4 Month Hardcore league. No shrine effects but every elite has a special "nemesis" mod. When you die, your character is moved to standard league and not domination.
When the two 4 month leagues end, they get moved to their respective permanent leagues. No matter what, your character can end up in Standard league. The point of the 4 month leagues is they give everyone a chance to start fresh and there's no inflated economy like you would get in the Standard league.
