And that's the sort of stuff that sells. There is nothing wrong with implementing what has been known to work and appeal to the masses. The poll results reflect that.

What particular elements will Adventure Time bring to MS? I honestly fail to see how a sitcom-style cartoon will contribute meaningfully to Maple.

And lastly, Search for "maplestory". While it "may" fit both styles, I'd be more inclined towards a simplistic style, considering we are talking about a 2D game with characters around 70 pixels tall.
And anime not fitting the Maplestory art style as well as some almost stick-figure-esque drawings? If the animated trailers that we've had for the recent classes, as well as what jMS have done with a number of shows have been any indication, it's that the anime art style can be ported to and from Maple flawlessly. If anything, those oversimplified designs from Adventure Time would be grossly out of place in Maple--the Maplestory sprites have much more detail than the ones from that cartoon, if you look closely at the character and equipment features. Borrowing content from Adventure Time would be a huge step down in art style, since the cartoon lacks any shading detail to speak of--and the eyes are just shapes that look like they've been coloured in with Paint.
