While a remake of the Ruby/Sapphire games on the 3DS would probably be pretty cool, I gotta admit... the 3rd Generation was my least favourite. I didn't necessarily hate Ruby/Sapphire, I just... didn't really enjoy them as much. Despite that though, I'd still probably end up getting them if they did happen.
I don't even know why it's my least favourite, it just... is. I barely remember anything from the games or the Generation itself, as most of it was just forgettable to me. I also ended up just being indifferent to all the 3rd Generation's Pokemon. I... think the only Pokemon from that Generation that I even remotely liked were: Lunatone, Breloom, and Metagross. That was it.
That's not to say that the Generation didn't bring anything important, though. If I recall, the 3rd Generation was the Generation that first brought Natures and Abilities, which are so important and loved these days, weather conditions (which can be good or bad depending on your views or feelings towards competitive weather teams), and it also was the first to introduce a new battle system with Double Battles.
But overall: meh. If they chose to remake Ruby and Sapphire for the 3DS, I'd still end up buying it, but if they happened to just not remake them at all, I'd be perfectly alright with that too.
