ah, I see what you're saying. The expiration date isn't displayed if you hover your mouse over it in Santa's dialog, but once you actually have it in your inventory, you can see the expiration date. That makes sense, it's the same way for the PQ items.

Does this expire or not? If it does I will cry over losing such an awesome chair. ;_; It has no expiration date on it, as you can see.
