Looking at third party support, I feel like third parties already dismissed the Wii U before it even launched. If you look at the list of launch titles/launch window titles Nintendo and Sony announced, Nintendo just got a bazillion ports. The only third party original IP that came out at launch is Zombie U. No third party even bothered developing a sequel to an already existing series. I guess you can also throw in the obligatory yearly sports games from EA. And I think there was a rabbids game in there. But I don't think Nintendo really wants to focus on the Party genre.
Look at Sony the Sony conference and they got Destiny, Deep Down, a new Final Fantasy, and the Witness.
I feel like there's just an unjustified industry spawned bias against the Wii U. They see the Wii brand and they think that it's where all the shovelware and ports should go. It's a catch 22 if I ever saw one.
