Basically that formula above is an intuitive way of seeing the effect of int or matk.
Instead of bothering with all these variables, Locked's formula basically tells you to change your int or matk and see how much of a boost that gives.
So that's probably the first thing to try before even looking at formulas. Instead of bothering with formulas just test the effect in-game for yourself.
I also noticed a while ago that the following formula from the other topic
is incorrect and should actually be
(4*INT+LUK)/(4*INT%)
(MATK/MATK%)
