As for the X series, I wouldn't completely dismiss it, but everyone forgot Command Mission on the GBC, and that was after X8, so I think that's done.
For one thing, I'll stop the bashing, I'm pissing people off. Another, I suppose let's just be happy they didn't forget Megaman is one of those gems that actually made the successful...I guess.
They show part of Zero's helmet during the final cutscene, man. He didn't make it. Capcom back then KNEW Zero had a reputation for popping out of nowhere and surviving horrific explosions and whatnot. They put that scene in there to drive the point home that 'Nope, he dead. He's finally getting some rest from 200 years of fighting.'
