I make programs for myself all the time. I don't care if people use them.

This could be useful but I can just browse SP instead. Writing programs is fun and that should be enough.

There's no reason for recipe list to be a full blown program when it can be easily viewed with a block of text in a forum post.

Would it be an idea to create this as a web-app? Most people playing maplestory would use this while they have internet anyway, and it wouldn't enforce people to update the software once you're using the game. Besides, people who are afraid of viruses and such things are more likely to use a web-app rather than a desktop app, so it all turns win-win for everyone.

If you mean coding it in Java or flash, there are certain limitations.

While I can code in both languages, i've already completed it in VB, so it would take quite some time to convert it.
Another issue would be that I do not have my own website to host the said web-app, and you must agree that a website like "something.webs.com" is unprofessional.

Currently, this application only updates when launched, and therefore should cause minimal lag that would adversely impact gameplay and not affect bandwidth at all. If you want to use a non-updating static version, feel free to request one.

This is not a virus, and members of this community know this. Even if I made it a web-app, if people wish to, they would still claim that it is a virus. The sad truth is that there will always be bashers, although I have yet to see any in this thread.

The final reason is that there is simply not enough interest shown for me to take the time to expand this. Updating it as it is is the best that I can do for now.

talk to eos? might get it hosted here and/or integrated into the database. something organized and visual like this would be better than a spoiler'd thread, especially if it could be put in a dropdown menu under the database button at the top.

I mean coding in anything that is able to create webpages, including C#. In fact, I know a lot of my friends who work with C# during web-programming - though I'm unsure of what framework they use.

If you're lacking a webpage and consider it unprofessional to not have a good domain, why not invest in one? If you splash in some advertisement, the costs of having a webpage will go into income if you develop the application properly.

Didn't know that the application automatically updates when launched, but that's nice to hear. If it's possible to sync data over two or more computers, that'd be great too (though, as mentioned, this issue will disappear if you're making a webpage out of it).

The virus-argument was probably a bad argument if people do not believe it's a virus. However, to click a link compared to downloading an application is a huge step, and by removing that huge step, you're making the application more available. By making the application more available, you will get more users.

I cannot really argument against the last reason of yours, as it's a personal matter. Finally, remember that these are just suggestions, not necessarily things that you agree with!

What's new in this update? In addition to revealing hidden recipes, this will now also show what monsters drop them!

lol, I'm a nub. I stood there looking at my comp for like 10mins wondering why it said "Status: Idle", didn't realize I was supposed to press the green shiny button to get started xP

Seems pretty cool =] Now I can figure out what stuff I'll need for those "Use for 1-day" potions w/o having to waste time finding out after using them~

Sorry about that.

I used a generic error handling method (I was lazy) to catch errors, so that obviously resulted in some minor bugs.

If the droplist is unable to be loaded, then no monsters drop it and the recipe can only be obtained from the PvP exclusive mystery recipe.

Hope this clears up any confusion!

Your absolutely right. A bit redundant though, since you'll be incorporating it into Southperry's own DB when you finish getting it back running.
