Don't recommend anime here. You all watch garbage.

Personally, one of the best closure in anime I've seen. Ending a series is always hard and it always seems to fall short of the expectations.

FMA:B would've been epic if it weren't for those awkward anime-chibi parts which Sarah hates so much.
I think out of all the animes I've seen, Hellsing is the closest Sarah would get to "good", as there is good dubs and no awkward chibi-moments that I remember. I don't know if the plot fits to Sarah at all though.

Well, glad to hear you liked it, Sarah. I just would have thought that it could have done worse, since if I recall right, you didn't want that copy of The Good, the Bad, and The Ugly that came with your copy of Red Dead Redemption. I know people who just don't like Cowboy Bebop. A friend of mine just couldn't get into the soundtrack, didn't like the older looking animation and the characters, and he didn't like the cop show/spaghetti western feel of the series. I figured that if there was something to put you off, it was probably the latter two.
Blah, I know you don't want recommendations and all, but would you actually be interested in something without the kind of fanbase you hate and is really different from a lot of shows? Also, people who usually don't like anime really like Death Note, as mentioned earlier in that thread. Death Note has really overblown theatrics (I'LL TAKE A POTATO CHIP.... AND EAT IT), but I think the allure for most people is that it's a really good crime thriller/psychological thriller that's really good compared to similar western media. If I have to recommend something that I think would work for you, this would be one. ShinkuDragon Wrote:i am wondering what's everyone's stance on elfen lied? It seems that every time I hear Elfen Lied brought up, there's usually fans who like it because of the nudity and gore. That's a shit reason to like something. The anime had really boring and poorly animated fights and really poorly animated gore. The anime is terribly rushed, doesn't cover half the plot of the manga, had a terrible ending, and was pretty much a bore after the initial allure of the first minutes of the first episode. The manga's a lot better. Action looks a lot better, I remember the drama being a lot less boring, the good part of the story of the later half that didn't make it into the anime, and better closure. It was actually pretty enjoyable. Still, Elfen Lied DEEP, pretentious and overambitious, etc.

I did enjoy the anime as it was one of the first I watched (and back then I wasn't as... picky, heh), but truthfully, it wasn't as good as some people claim it to be. I thought the OP theme was awesome though. And it had its "daw/baw" parts. But eh. On topic: It's always nice to see someone attempt to put their misconceptions aside and give things a try before judging them. And it's even better when that person enjoys the ride. Cool thread was cool. Too bad Bebop will be the last one. Or perhaps that's a good thing... Yeah, probably a good thing.

I'm really depressed. Anime has depressed me. Now I'm more depressed. This is a vicious cycle.
Oh god, Vicious. Now I'm really, really depressed. Son of a peach.
