Can we have the BWA too?
But seriously, congratulations though I'm not really sure why such a thing is needed.

To encourage kids who are terrified that they're the only one to feel more secure and show them they're not alone, have people like themselves to talk to and get to know and people who will support and accept them for who they are.

That statement could quite literally be applied to any club ever concieved, including a BWA, so not really the answer I was looking for.
None the less, good luck in your endevours with your new shiny club.

Lol, well it's mainly because there is no such a thing at my school now or before.
However, there are quite a few homosexuals. More so lesbians than guys, unfortunately.
They get picked on alot, and theres alot of mainstream homophobia. We want to be there to let others know we aren't like those others.
Sounds attention whoreish yes I know, but hello college applications.

No it couldn't. You can use your eyes to see other people of the same race or similar as you.
People aren't beaten and killed for liking chess or being geeks as a general rule. The sort of bullying you get for being in band has nothing on what a gay boy can receive in a small minded town.
It's a lot harder, and in many places far more dangerous, to be LBGT.
Religions are about the only other group that are on equal footing for sheer bigotry and invisibility, and those you can attend churches, synagogues and similar to find your own kind.
The average 14 year old has virtually nothing to help them connect with other LGBT people easily and safely.

Yes, it could. Everything you stated after the fact has absolutely no baring on the statement "To encourage kids who are terrified that they're the only one to feel more secure and show them they're not alone, have people like themselves to talk to and get to know and people who will support and accept them for who they are." Hell, that statment even describes cults with the vagueness put forth. In fact, here are some things that statement could apply to:
Scientology (aimed at children)
Anime Lovers' club
Geeks United
Band
Religion (as you stated)
'We hate our lives and want to kill ourselves' club
'We want to pick on <race here>' club
Rednecks of America
Crossdressers of America
All of the following could/would want "To encourage kids who are terrified that they're the only one to feel more secure and show them they're not alone, have people like themselves to talk to and get to know and people who will support and accept them for who they are."

Then we disagree. I'm sure you'll live.

It's one of those things that from my point of view is hard to explain, I've been in that position before and it sucks. Why not try and prevent it? (refering to Eos' comments of feeling alone)

With anything, the first step is always the hardest.
How will you get people to join? I imagine not everyone at first will want to join this group which i assume is some support club for gays/lesbians, out of fear, or shyness.

Especially considering none of Cactuar's examples are even 1/10th as prone to suicide from their perceived isolation.

I've already rounded up the facebook group invites, started facebook threads, and we set up a tumblr. I've talked to numerous amounts of people in my classes about it, alot of them eager to join. Not all of them gay, not all of them straight.

I'm sorry, but what in the world does GSA mean?
